Beware of impostor sites claiming to be Gussy’s Gut®
Recently, we have had fake copies of our website created and even advertising on Google. Here's how to know if you've been scammed and what to do about it.
Background
Customers claim they've ordered from our site and have not received their order or a response back from our customer support. Then they reach out to us on social media. This is usually the first time are made aware of the issue.
We start by asking for their email and a screenshot of their email receipt and can quickly ascertain if they have placed their order in our system from this information.
We can also tell from the emails that this order is not from a wholesale partner, but a company posing as us and using our federally registered trademarks. They download all of our web site images and creative so their site looks like ours.
The latest example of a fake web site was trygussysgut.shop.
Of course, we contact our attorney to contact Google, the domain registrar, and web host to protect our trademarks and copyrights. Sometimes we get them taken down and they spring right back up soon thereafter.
We have limited power to stop these bad actors. Many of whom are in other countries. We hope you understand.
How to Know if You Have Been Scammed
If we confirm your email and/or order # is not in our system, we highly advise you to report the transaction to your credit card company as fraud and dispute it for a full refund.
We've been in business since 2021 with tens of thousands of happy customers. This is a new phenomenon for us this year. We continue to seek professional advice on how to handle these as they may come up.
Ways to know you purchased from our official web site or social media accounts:
- Your email receipt "from" address is from customeradvocacy@gussysgut.com (look after the @ sign - it should only say "gussysgut.com" with no other letter or numbers)
- We always reply to all support inquiries within 1 business day.
- We send shipping confirmation and SMS notifications
- A customer of ours can login at www.gussysgut.com/account. If you cannot, you are likely not a customer of our official web site
Today, now more than ever, it is important the buyer beware on the Internet. These scam artists are clever. Many brands are seeing this more today than ever.
